Nakabohtec Corrosion Protecting Co. Ltd. reported a sharp decline in profitability for the nine months ending December 31, with net income falling to ¥296 million despite a modest increase in top-line revenue.

Nakabohtec Net Profit Sinks 30% Despite Revenue Gains

The Tokyo-listed engineering specialist saw its operating profit contract significantly to ¥390 million, down from ¥588 million in the prior-year period. This bottom-line pressure occurred even as the firm managed to grow its revenue to ¥9.12 billion, compared to ¥8.93 billion previously, suggesting a tightening of margins over the three-quarter stretch.

Revised Dividend Forecast

Reflecting the softer earnings environment, Nakabohtec has lowered its annual dividend outlook. According to the company's financial filing, the board now expects a year-end payout of ¥260 per share, a decrease from the ¥300 distribution recorded in the previous fiscal year. Earnings per share for the period dropped to ¥120.64 from ¥173.15.

The results, which are based on Japanese accounting standards, indicate that while the demand for corrosion protection services remains stable, the company is grappling with increased costs that have eroded its profit margins. The firm did not provide a midyear dividend, maintaining its focus on the year-end distribution for shareholders.
