Sible Network Abandons Multi-Account Mining Plan Amid Sybil Fears

Less than 24 hours after unveiling a plan to allow three mining accounts on a single smartphone, Sible Network has halted the initiative. The reversal follows intense backlash from community members and analysts who warned that the update could invite widespread identity fraud and Sybil attacks.

Sible Network Abandons Multi-Account Mining Plan Amid Sybil Fears

The proposal, introduced on November 1, aimed to increase accessibility for families sharing devices by permitting multiple SIB token mining sessions per handset. While Sible Network initially defended the move as a convenience measure, users and industry commentators quickly identified a critical vulnerability: the lack of a mechanism to distinguish between three legitimate family members and one bad actor operating a fraudulent 'farm' to harvest excess rewards.

Crypto analyst Vindicated Chidi led the criticism, arguing that the incentive structure risked prioritizing the creation of fake identities over genuine network contribution. By November 2, the project bowed to the pressure, confirming the suspension of the trial. The company reaffirmed its strict 'One Person = One Account' policy, stating that while it intended to help users in financial distress, it would not compromise the network's integrity. For now, the project continues to evaluate alternative methods to support shared-device participation without creating avenues for exploitation.
