Ericsson and Microsoft announced a partnership on Tuesday to integrate AI-driven 5G capabilities into Windows 11, streamlining how enterprise laptops connect to cellular networks. The partnership focuses on automating transitions between cellular networks for enterprise devices. By leveraging the AI-driven Enterprise 5G Connect platform, the system monitors network quality in real-time and adjusts settings without manual intervention. This shift allows IT departments to manage large-scale deployments of Windows 11 laptops more efficiently, reducing the technical friction typically associated with cellular-connected hardware.

Global Expansion and Carrier Support

The solution is already live for enterprise customers in several major markets. According to the companies, initial rollouts involve major carriers including T-Mobile in the U.S., Telenor in Sweden, Singtel in Singapore, and SoftBank in Japan. The integration is designed to ensure a consistent user experience regardless of the user's physical location or specific service provider.

Looking ahead, the companies plan to expand availability to additional regions later this year. New markets slated for the service include:

  • Spain via MasOrange
  • Germany through O2 Telefónica
    • Finland via Elisa
