The leadership transition marks a strategic separation of roles within the action-camera manufacturer’s executive suite. While relinquishing his financial oversight duties, Brian McGee will continue to lead GoPro’s day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives in his capacity as president and COO, according to a company announcement released Thursday.
A Decade of Internal Growth
Tratt, 44, brings extensive institutional knowledge to the CFO position, having spent more than a decade rising through the company’s financial ranks. He first joined GoPro in 2012 as an assistant controller and most recently served as the vice president of finance, a role he assumed in August 2024. This internal promotion suggests a focus on continuity as the company navigates the evolving consumer electronics landscape.
Before his tenure at GoPro, Tratt developed his professional background at KPMG’s San Francisco office. His appointment comes as GoPro continues to balance its core hardware business with an expanding ecosystem of software and subscription services. The company confirmed that Tratt will officially take over the finance chief responsibilities midway through the first quarter of next year.
