Warner Music Group acquires AI tracking startup Sureel

The technology developed by Sureel creates what the company calls AI DNA, a system that breaks creative components into segments to track their deployment in generative AI training and output. This platform provides a technical layer of oversight for intellectual property, allowing creators to monitor how their specific work influences machine learning processes.

Chief Executive Robert Kyncl noted that integrating Sureel enhances the company’s ability to manage, protect, and monetize assets while keeping artists in control of their image and voice. Sureel will continue to function as a standalone platform, now backed by the infrastructure and resources of Warner Music Group.
