U.S. Natural Gas Stocks Poised for Triple-Digit Inventory Build

Market participants expect a 100 billion-cubic-foot injection into U.S. natural gas storage for the week ending June 5, a figure that would push underground reserves to 2,678 Bcf. This anticipated increase reflects a steady climb that continues to outpace seasonal norms, widening the surplus above the five-year average.

U.S. Natural Gas Stocks Poised for Triple-Digit Inventory Build

A survey of 11 analysts, brokers, and traders suggests a range of estimates between 90 Bcf and 116 Bcf. If realized, the 100 Bcf build will surpass the historical five-year average of 95 Bcf for this specific week. Such an uptick would expand the existing storage surplus to 143 Bcf, up from the 138 Bcf recorded the previous week. Despite these consecutive gains, total stocks remain 13 Bcf lower than they were at this time last year. The U.S. Energy Information Administration is set to provide the official storage data on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
