Tomoe Corp Net Profit Plummets in Nine-Month Earnings Report

Tokyo-based Tomoe Corp. faced a significant earnings squeeze during the first three quarters of the fiscal year, as both top-line revenue and core profitability retreated. According to the company's latest financial filing, revenue for the nine months ended December 31 reached ¥20.46 billion, marking a substantial decrease from the ¥26.04 billion generated during the same period last year.

Shifting Profit Margins

The downturn extended to the company’s operating income, which slid to ¥1.78 billion from ¥2.94 billion. This contraction in margins was mirrored in the pretax profit, which fell to ¥2.51 billion. The results, calculated under Japanese accounting standards, highlight a period of reduced activity or increased costs compared to the previous year's figures.

The most striking decline appeared in the company's net profit, which cratered to ¥1.62 billion from a high of ¥14.41 billion a year ago. This sharp reduction directly impacted shareholder returns, with earnings per share tumbling to ¥43.98 from the prior year's ¥355.92.
