This transition positions the company to join the Nasdaq-100, an index tracking the 100 largest nonfinancial firms on the exchange. Analysts expect the move to trigger fresh interest from index-tracking funds, as Hilton would likely slot in around the 60th position on the roster. The company follows a similar path taken by retail titan Walmart, which completed its own migration from the NYSE to Nasdaq late last year.
For Hilton, the switch carries historical weight. The firm returned to the public markets via the NYSE in 2013, following its 2007 transition to private ownership. Its predecessor, Hilton Hotels, originally blazed a trail in 1946 by becoming the first hotel company to list on the New York Stock Exchange, ending a tenure that spanned decades before this latest shift in strategy.
