Monero Developer Seeks Community Funding for Infrastructure Upgrades

Developer jpk68 has launched a community crowdfunding campaign to secure 45 XMR, aimed at sustaining three months of full-time work on Monero’s privacy infrastructure. As of October 26, the proposal has gathered 31.04 XMR, with the remaining balance intended to support core network improvements and wallet software maintenance.

The proposed work focuses on enhancing compatibility with anonymity networks, specifically Tor and I2P. Key objectives include integrating Tor Control protocol support into monerod to automate onion service configuration, and investigating the integration of I2P SAM functionality directly into the core wallet code. These updates aim to reduce manual setup requirements for users and improve overall software usability.

Unlike projects supported by centralized foundations, Monero relies on its Community Crowdfunding System (CCS) for development. This model requires developers to submit individual project scopes for community review and donation. Jpk68’s latest request builds on a track record that includes approximately 50 merged pull requests over the past eight months, as well as prior contributions to the Monero GUI and I2P implementations. The developer has committed to keeping these new tasks separate from previous, unfinished obligations to ensure transparency in the allocation of the requested funds.
