The Swiss pharmaceutical giant disclosed the discontinuation alongside its third-quarter financial results on Tuesday. Despite the setback, Chief Executive Vas Narasimhan remains bullish on the drug's overarching portfolio, maintaining that remibrutinib could eventually become the most significant medicine in the company’s history.
Narasimhan noted that the decision is isolated to the myasthenia gravis program, with no safety concerns reported during the trial. The company continues to advance remibrutinib across other therapeutic areas, including recent success in late-stage trials for multiple sclerosis. Currently marketed as Rhapsido for chronic spontaneous urticaria, the drug remains under investigation for hidradenitis suppurativa and various food allergies.
