Wytec International Restores IT Systems Following Website Defacement

Wytec International has fully restored its information technology systems and internal data after a recurring cyberattack forced the company to take its web presence offline. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Tuesday, the company is now modernizing its digital infrastructure after authorities concluded an investigation into the breach.

The incident originated in August when an unauthorized actor gained access to Wytec’s web address, replacing the company’s content with a defaced landing page. Despite initial efforts to restore the site from backups, the hacker successfully targeted the platform a second time. In response, the company took the website down entirely, maintaining a temporary placeholder while it addressed the security vulnerabilities.

Infrastructure and Security Upgrades

Wytec International is now transitioning its digital presence to a new server and hosting platform. This rebuilding process involves significant costs associated with both the migration and the implementation of more robust security protocols designed to prevent future intrusions. The company noted in its filing that while minor operational impacts persist, core IT functions are back online.

Law enforcement authorities have closed their investigation into the matter, though they were unable to pinpoint the source of the attack. The company stated it has had no contact with the bad actor and remains unaware of any specific motive behind the disruption.
