Lam Research Names Sesha Varadarajan as Chief Operating Officer

Lam Research Corp. has appointed Sesha Varadarajan as its new chief operating officer, effective March 6. Varadarajan succeeds the retiring Pat Lord, taking over the semiconductor equipment maker’s global product portfolio and strategic initiatives during a pivotal period for the chip industry.

Varadarajan, who currently serves as the head of global product, will assume his new responsibilities next month. His mandate includes overseeing Lam Research’s expansive product lineup, customer support, and corporate strategy, while also navigating the increasingly complex landscape of government affairs. He replaces Pat Lord, a veteran executive whose retirement marks the end of a significant tenure at the wafer fabrication specialist.

Expanding the Executive Bench

The leadership transition coincides with a broader restructuring of the company’s executive suite. Alongside Varadarajan’s promotion, the Fremont-based firm announced that Karthik Rammohan will take on an expanded role as senior vice president of global operations and enterprise solutions. This move signals a tightening of the company’s supply chain and internal infrastructure management.

According to the company’s Tuesday announcement, these appointments aim to streamline decision-making as the semiconductor industry faces shifting demand and evolving trade regulations. By consolidating product development and government relations under the COO, the firm seeks to better align its technical roadmap with global market shifts.
