Revenue for the period showed growth, rising to 282.50 billion yen from 271.77 billion yen a year earlier. Despite this top-line expansion, operating profit fell to 2.71 billion yen compared with 4.03 billion yen previously. Pretax profit followed a similar downward trajectory, sliding to 2.39 billion yen from 5.18 billion yen.
Shareholders saw a marked impact on earnings per share, which fell to 13.77 yen from 105.44 yen. Diluted earnings per share also retreated to 13.74 yen from 105.29 yen. The figures indicate that while the company continues to generate higher sales, rising expenses or margin compression have severely curtailed its ability to convert revenue into profit.
