EU Crypto Register Expands as Santander and BingX Secure MiCA Status

The European Union’s MiCA register has grown to 375 listed crypto-asset service providers following an October 16 update. The latest expansion includes nine new entries—among them BingX, YouHodler, and Santander-owned Openbank Deutschland—as traditional banking institutions increasingly integrate into the bloc’s formal digital asset regulatory framework.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) reported the addition of eight net providers, moving from 367 to 375. Among the newcomers is BingX’s Austrian subsidiary, MEGE zweite GmbH, which secured authorization for four specific services, including custody and crypto-to-fiat exchange. YouHodler Italy S.r.l. also gained entry, receiving approval from Italy’s CONSOB regulator to offer five distinct services ranging from order execution to asset transfers.

Traditional finance is carving a larger footprint in the register. Openbank Deutschland AG, a subsidiary of Banco Santander, joins a growing cohort of German lenders, including various cooperative banks, now recognized under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. While these entries signal a shift toward mainstream compliance, the register does not confirm that services are immediately active for customers. Permissions remain tethered to the specific authorizations granted by national regulators.

Amid these additions, the registry saw the removal of Denmark’s Penning Financial Services, though the company maintains its authorization status remains unchanged. ESMA also updated its non-compliant register, adding five entities to reach a total of 178 firms identified as operating without the necessary regulatory approval.
