The company’s revenue climbed 9.2% to $3.28 billion for the period ending September 30, outperforming analyst estimates of $2.38 billion. While the headline profit reached $1.54 per share, adjusted earnings fell 25% year-over-year. Operational metrics showed mixed results, as average daily shipments dipped 1.4% to 88,900, while tonnage remained steady at 41,700 tons per day.
Chief Executive John Smith noted that the firm is gaining momentum across its commercial and technology initiatives despite the transition. Looking ahead, FedEx Freight raised its revenue forecast for the seven-month period ending December 31, projecting up to $5.65 billion. This optimism contrasts with a lowered earnings-per-share forecast for that same window, now pegged between $1.69 and $1.79 before specific accounting adjustments. The company remains focused on sharpening its core business strategy following the separation from FedEx, which recently reported its own 12% revenue growth.
