TotalEnergies and Kuwait Oil Company Ink Technical Cooperation Pact

TotalEnergies and the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the 5th Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference, establishing a formal framework for technical cooperation and joint exploration studies. The agreement signals a deepening of the French energy major's commitment to the Gulf state as Kuwait seeks to optimize its domestic resource development.

The high-level signing ceremony was attended by TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah, and KOC CEO Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan. The agreement facilitates the exchange of technical expertise and the launch of specialized studies to identify new exploration opportunities across Kuwait’s energy landscape.

Identifying New Resource Opportunities

Under the terms of the MoU, TotalEnergies will deploy its technical teams to evaluate the country's geological potential and assist in the development of future energy projects. The partnership is designed to provide the data necessary to inform long-term infrastructure investment, according to official statements from the companies involved.

Pouyanné emphasized that the collaboration reflects a shared ambition to meet Kuwait’s resource development objectives. He noted that the studies would play a critical role in shaping future projects while further cementing the long-term relationship between the global energy firm and Kuwait’s state-owned operators.

TotalEnergies, which operates in approximately 120 countries with a workforce of over 100,000 employees, continues to expand its footprint in the Middle East. While this specific agreement focuses on upstream exploration and technical exchange, it aligns with the company’s broader strategy of maintaining a diversified global energy portfolio ranging from hydrocarbons to low-carbon hydrogen and renewables.
